The Fresh Prince himself is coming to Undawn! The news of Will Smith’s arrival was announced officially by Level Infinite and Lightspeed Studios, including a cinematic trailer to get us excited. There has been discussion in the community about whether Smith’s character will be playable or not, and we finally have an answer. Players can play as Will Smith—well, his post-apocalyptic survivor character, anyway—, which is amazing news! Here is all you need to know.
Will Smith is coming to Undawn
The open-world, post-apocalyptic world of Undawn came out on June 15, 2023 on PC and mobile. In it, players explore this vast world and eventually encounter Trey Jones, played by Will Smith. Trey acts as the survivor group’s guide, helping them through the dangerous and diverse world they are faced with. Some of you may think they recognize Trey Jones, but Undawn’s devs would like to assure you that it is purely coincidental and he is absolutely not based on Will Smith’s character in I Am Legend… Not even one little bit, ok?

The two characters are both battered, bruised, dirt-scuffed, and weary, and both wander a post-apocalyptic world, but they are completely different, as you can see from the images below. Look, he even has his bag on the other shoulder…
The bad news is there is no news yet about any potential dog-character. According to a press release from Level Infinite, the game is based on a group of survivors trying to make their way in a harsh world:
“During their daring adventure, players will encounter legendary survivor Trey Jones played by global movie star Will Smith. Trey will act as a guide to help other survivors navigate the world four years after global disaster. In this new civilization, players will explore an expansive open world filled with diverse environments such as plains, mines, deserts, swamps, and abandoned cities, each with unique ecosystems and dangers. Survivors must be prepared to brave rain, heat, snow, and storms while monitoring their character’s health and well-being to stay alive against overwhelming odds.”
