The Origin Forme of Giratina has always been a fan-favorite. It’s an undead dragon that is basically, according to Pokemon lore, their version of Satan. It floats, it’s gigantic, and it’s extremely menacing, so of course you would want to know if you can get one for yourself.

How to Catch Giratina Origin Forme in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The first requirement you need to make sure you have checked is acquiring the National Dex. Doing this ensures that you will now have access to Sendoff Spring, where you will encounter Giratina’s base form, which is necessary to acquire its Origin Forme.

Head to the main path of Route 214 and enter Spring Path to make your way into Sendoff Spring. Encounter and capture Giratina in its base form here.

With Giratina in your possession, head to Ramanas Park. If you haven’t already, go through the process of capturing Regice, Regirock, and Registeel by using their respective plates in the caves that they are found in. Capturing the Regi Trio will unlock the Distortion Plate for you to buy in Ramanas Park.

If you don’t have either 1 Big Mysterious Shard or 3 Small Mysterious Shards with you already, go mine them from the Grand Underground and exchange them for the Distortion Plate in the shop at Ramanas Park.

Head to the cave that houses Origin Forme Giratina and place the Distortion Plate in this room to encounter and battle Giratina in its Origin Forme.

It appears entirely black with only its signature glowing-red eyes popping out at you. You cannot catch it, but instead are forced to defeat it. Don’t fret though, as after you beat it, it will drop the Griseous Orb.

Have the base form Giratina that you caught hold this Griseous Orb, and the next time you examine it, you will notice it has transformed into its Origin Forme! Take the Griseous Orb off of it if you want it to revert to its base form.
