Can Pokemon Hold Items in Pokemon Legends: Arceus? – Answered

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is markedly different from the previous entries in the series, not only because its mechanics are a step forward toward a full Pokemon open-world experience, but also because it innovates many of the features that make Pokemon games what they are.

Innovation, however, always comes at a cost, and some features did, unfortunately, get the ax. Is the ability for Pokemon to hold items among them? Let’s find out.

Can Pokemon Hold Items in Pokemon Legends: Arceus? – Answered

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Pokemon cannot hold items in any way, which is not too surprising, considering the changes made to the combat system. Many of the items that were held items in previous entries in the series are still present in the game, but they have different effects and are used differently. While the removal of a customization option is always a bad thing, Pokemon Legends Arceus features some additional ones that make the absence of held items more bearable.

Does this mean that Pokemon holding items will be a thing of the past? Most likely not, given how Pokemon Legends: Arceus is highly experimental in nature when it comes to Pokemon games, and the Gen 9 games may be more traditional, thus bringing back features that were removed in the semi-open-world game.
