Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical competitive multiplayer game where four Survivors work together to escape the nightmare before the Killer finds them all. The odds are against them, but the Survivors can take advantage of found items to help them secure their escape route. Can Killers manipulate these items in any way? Today, we’ll be answering the question: can Killers pick up items in Dead by Daylight?
Can Killers Pick Up Items?
You’ve no doubt run into various items used by the Survivors if you prefer playing as the Killers in Dead by Daylight. The items can range from encouraging direct confrontation like the Flashlight, or they can be supportive like First Aid Kits. If you’re a new Killer, you’ve probably wondered at some point if there’s a way you could pick up the items for yourself.
The short answer is, unfortunately, there is no way for Killers to pick up items on the map. Survivors can bring their own consumable items with them into a match so that they start out with it, and there’s nothing you can really do against that.

However, there are random chests scattered across the map at the beginning of each match. If a Survivor didn’t bring an item with them, they might try to look around for these chests. You still can’t open the chests yourself, but you can take advantage of this if you’re a Killer with some kind of trap power, like the appropriately named Trapper.
Alternatively, you can use an Offering to reduce the amount of chests that spawn during the match, to further reduce the amount of potential items the Survivors can have up their sleeves.
