Ball or no ball?
This is the question (no, not really!) But the truth is that since this is a football game, you won’t always have the ball, even when you’re attacking. And although it might seem obvious that having the ball yourself is the best approach to the game, don’t shy away from playing without it.

Not only that you have some advantages (like increased speed), but you also need to play without the ball in order to unlock some of the content in the game. We’re going to talk more in depth about each of these mechanics below, but I wanted to make sure that you are aware of this: it’s not a must to always go grab the ball and be the scorer yourself.

In order to give yourself a second to strategize a bit, I recommend waiting before making the first move: let the AI players clash at the middle (the opponents will almost always end up with the ball) and start working your magic afterwards!

What to do when you have the ball
When you have the ball, things are pretty much straightforward: you need to score, no matter what. You can’t pass the ball, but you can run backwards or any way you feel like running.

When you have the ball in Voodoo’s game, you are slower, but fortunately the opponents are not the brightest in the world. Quick circular movements when they get close will totally confuse them, giving you an open line towards the finish. So go for those whenever the opponents get close.

Another good strategy here is to run diagonally, towards the corners. Abruptly switch directions if the opponents get close and you should have no problem scoring.

Finally, keep an eye on your teammates: if they’re close by, you can use them to destroy the other players: simply roll around and behind them, guiding the opponents into them – they will be blasted away and you’ll have a clear line to score (but also keep an eye on the dotted circles on the field as that’s where new players spawn from).

Play better when you don’t have the ball (in attack)
If you don’t have the ball and you are in attack, you should do your best to tackle as many opponents as possible. That’s not only useful for your teammates, but also helps you unlock various things in the game.

Without the ball, you are faster and stronger. All you have to do is look where the other players are and go there, destroying everything standing in your way. Playing offense without the ball is really fun!

Proper defense techniques for Ball Mayhem
If it happens for the opponents to grab the ball and start running to score against you, it’s time to defend! As in offense, when you don’t have the ball, you are faster, but you will never catch up on an opponent if you run in a straight line, like they do (unless you’re really close when you begin).

Instead, look at the icon of the ball on your display and set an interception course, going in a slightly diagonal line. Meet them at the middle and get that ball back!

Bonus: try to tackle away as many opponents as possible while on your way to the ball carrier. If you don’t manage to catch him before scoring, you’ll at least work towards unlocking various items in the game.

Watch ads to double your XP
You need XP points in order to level up, which allows you to unlock extra items in the game and, most importantly, rewards you with diamonds that give you new players.

After each game, you have the option to watch a video advertisement to double the XP points you have earned – make sure to take advantage of this offer and do it often in order to easy your way up the ranks and unlock new players faster.

The type of character matters
Although all the items in the game like balls, colors and other unlockables have no effect on the gameplay, the characters you unlock seem to have different stats: you have the long ones which are faster, just like the shorter ones, then you have the large and the muscular ones which are a lot stronger.

Fast is good, in my opinion, so go for those options first!
