Control the elements in Alechamancer, a new turn-based dueling game designed for one-on-one battles to the death. As an Alchamancer, you have control over the major elements of the world, and you must harness them to fuel powerful spells to fling at your opponent. Strategical spell casting is required for victory!
In our Alechamancer tips and tricks guide, we will go over the basics of the battle system, how to use mana efficiently, and how to turn the battlefield over to your advantage. Let’s get started with our Alchamancer tips and tricks strategy guide to winning more duels!
Familiarize yourself with the interface!
Alchamancer features a short tutorial that tells you the basics, but it glosses over some things, so we will go over the interface in full here.
First, we will start with the spell list at the bottom left. Above the spell list is a sword and shield icon; the sword represents your attack power and the shield represents your defense. It can be hard to keep track of all the changes after a few rounds of buffs and debuffs, so a quick look over at the stats can tell you what kind of shape you are in.
Below the status panel is your handy dandy spell list. By default, the spell list is sorted by elements, but if you press the SORT button, the spell list will only show spells that you can cast right away from the mana you have currently. Press the “i” button to see what a spell does exactly. As reference, spells that are lit up can be cast, while the darkened ones mean you are missing an element.
To the right, we have your collect and movement buttons. Above is your absorbed mana by element. Your energy bar is the green bar to the right – you start each turn with 4 energy, and collecting mana costs 1 energy. Your absorb mana bar is the purple bar to the left – every element you absorb is tallied here, and if you hit your maximum, you cannot collect any more mana until you cast a spell.
Finally, at the top right is the field color. Casting a spell will turn one of the bubbles to that spell’s element color. If all three bubbles fill up with the same element, the field will change to match that element. More on this below.
Choose your method of attack!
When it is your turn, you must collect the mana you need around you to fuel your spells. There are six elements in total with five spells to each element, making up a grand total 30 spells at your disposal.
There are direct damage spells, there are damage over time spells, there are utility spells that heal you – the possibilities are endless, and how you decide to tackle your opponent is left up to you! To give you some pointers, we have a full spell library here to break down each spell to you.

Use the ultimate spells!
Each element has one ultimate spells that requires three different elements in order to cast, but the cost is usually worth it. These ultimate spells can inflict large amounts of damage and guarantee a status ailment infliction, or they can provide a useful utility spell, like a counter or big recovery. Read on to see specific strategies!
Assault your opponent with unrelenting status ailments!
One of our favorite ways to win a duel is to constantly attack your opponents with spells that can inflict burn or poison. When a character has both status ailments on them, they are forced to take a lot of damage per turn, or waste mana trying to cure it off of them.
If you are lucky enough, you can get by with pelting your foe with quick spells like Poison Shot and Dragon’s Breath, but if you really want to secure the status ailment go for Last Breath and Planet Splitter.
Be careful – if your opponent catches on to this strategy, they will save their green mana strictly for Antidote while spending the rest of their mana on direct damage spells.
Power up for a big attack!
Oaken Strength and Iron Skin increase your attack and defense power respectively. If you use these spells multiple times, you can get quite the boost. If you stack a lot of attack power boosts and then cast an ultimate spell like Last Breath or Planet Splitter, you will deal an insane amount of damage.
The danger to this is that this strategy can be seen coming from miles away. If you notice your opponent buffing themselves repeatedly, they are trying to build up a massive hit. You can counter this easily by debuffing them with Seduce, Enfeebling Haze, and so forth.
If they still try to continue buffing themselves, you can start attacking them with direct damage spells, or you can give them a taste of their own medicine! If you suspect a big spell coming out soon (watch what elements they absorb), prepare either Counter or Mirror Shield and watch it all blow up in their face.
This is incredibly risky to attempt, but when it works it is extremely satisfying. Just keep a close eye on the elements they are going after and try to guess when their spell is going to come out.
Utilize the transmuting spells!
Three of the six elements have a spell that allows you to transmute mana. Basically you are exchanging unwanted elements for two of a specific element, and if you are going for a specific strategy or you are trying to make one of the ultimate spells, this is a great way to expedite the process.
Do not underestimate the transmuting spells! They can help you reach certain spells faster and if your opponent is not paying attention, you can catch them off guard with an unexpected flurry of spells.
Power up the field with elements to cast powerful spells!
When the field elements hit three of the same element, the entire field will change to match that element. In this state, all elements that match the field are doubly effective, and the opposite element is half effective. For example, if the field is white, black spells will be not as effective.
In this state, almost all spells are affected. Direct damage spells will deal double damage, buffs and debuffs will be more potent, and healing is increased. If you combine a power up with field with the self-buffing strategy, you can cast spells that can potentially take out your opponent in one hit!
The field will not change another element until all three of its elements are wiped off from the field, so make sure to use your time wisely.
Block your opponent from certain spells!
This is a rather advanced tactic, so do not try this until you are confident in knowing at least half of the spell library by heart. There is no way to keep track of your opponent’s collected mana unless you manually do it by hand.
If you do this, and you notice that they are going for specific elements, there is a possibility that you might be able to deny them by positioning yourself in a way that they cannot get through you. Be careful though, as the field will automatically respawn mana after a few turns.
