After several hours of playing through World of Warcraft’s Dragonflight expansion and figuring out how to beat the Overgrown Ancient Mythic, you’ll reach a point when you can finally unlock dragon riding and be rewarded with your first dragon riding mount. Eventually you’ll find that there are several unlockable dragon riding mounts, along with many other customizations.

Where to customize your dragon in WoW Dragonflight
After getting dragonflight capabilities, the expansion also introduces you to the customization system for your dragon. You are assigned a task of customizing your dragon’s horns as part of a quest. The quest giver, Lord Andrestrasz, will provide you with the necessary items when the riding tutorial ends.
From here on out, you’ll know where to customize your dragon. It’s in the Rostrum of Transformation, which is shown on the map as a gold dragon head. Below are the coordinates for all four Rostrums of Transformation on the map:
- The Waking Shores: 74.03, 58.13
- Ohn’ahran Plains: 84.64, 35.55
- The Azure Span: 63.61, 13.21
- Thaldraszus, Valdrakken: 25.24 50.33
The Rostrum of Transformation looks like a portal structure on the ground, so simply interact with it to begin customizing your dragon.
What can you customize on your dragon in WoW Dragonflight?
There are several things you can tweak with your dragon’s appearance in WoW Dragonflight, and here are all of them:
- Skin color
- Skin scale type
- Pattern
- Horns
- Horn color
- Horn style
- Tail
- Throat
- Body armor
- Armor color
- Snout
- Crest
- Jaw
- Brow
- Hair color
- Eyesight
- Eye color
- Eye style
- Full transformation (rare items that completely change the overall appearance)

How many dragon riding mounts are there in WoW Dragonflight
You get new dragon-riding mounts as you complete quests. There is one mount associated with each of the zone mentioned above:
- Renewed Proto-Drake in The Waking Shores
- Windborne Velocidrake in Ohn’ahran Plains
- Highland Drake in The Azure Span
- Ciffside Waydrake in Thaldraszus
You get more customization options through “Drakewatcher Manuscripts” in the overworld. It can also be acquired through quests. You can also grind your reputation and complete profession-based tasks and quests to get rewarded with more customization options. After which, several customizations on your dragon are completely free, unlike with character customization options.
