New Pokémon Snap is all about taking photos of many different Pokémon, but stopping at taking a single photo is not enough to complete the Photodex, as you will have to take photos of different behaviors to do so. Making matters even more complicated is the fact that a very specific Pokémon, Vivillon, comes with different variants, so if you’re really looking to complete the game fully, you will have to take pictures of all the different Wing Patterns.

Archipelago Pattern
The Archipelago Pattern Vivillon is found in the Cave course, but only once you reach Research Level 3. Play through the course normally until you can take the crystal route. Here, take the alternate route. At some point, you will reach an area with a crystabloom: throw an Illumina Orb to make the Vivillon appear, it will fly around the center of the area.
Icy Snow Pattern
The Icy Snow Pattern Vivillon can be found in the Snowfields (Night) course once you reach Research Level 2. These Pokémon are easily spotted in the cavern located in the alternate path. Some of them will also be flying outside the cavern, past the Jynkx and Avalugg to the right.
Polar Pattern
The Polar Pattern Vivillon is located in the Snowfields (Day) course once you reach Research Level 2. They are located inside the same cavern where you can find the Icy Snow Pattern Vivillon in the night course.
Tundra Pattern
The Tundra Pattern Vivillon can be found in the Snowfields (Day) course. You do not have to do anything special to discover them, as they can be easily spotted in the second area of the main route.
