You wake up in the middle of a shrouded forest, with no direction or recollection of the events leading up. From the shuffling coming from the bushes around you, you realize that you are not alone. You hear a child calling for help. With no other leads, you make a mad dash towards the child voice, hoping you are not too late.
And thus the roguelike adventure Into The Dark: Narakan begins. Into The Dark is a top-down turn-based RPG with roguelike elements. The first thing you’ll probably notice about the game is its unique artstyle. Almost everything in the game is comprised of geometrical shapes, be it a person, land, or a weapon. It’s very reminiscent of classic PC RPGs that used ASCII art.
In Into The Dark, enemies will only move when you do. Enemies move in certain ways, and your weapons can only attack in specific directions. You will need to study their movement patterns and line up your attacks correctly. Just like any other roguelike, you will need to go into every fight prepared.
Find new equipment, study your opponents, and strike them down before they have a chance to react. Into The Dark’s gameplay will have you think about every move you make, and this rhythm really gives the game a good flow.
