One Piece Odyssey has been a thrilling experience so far for anime fans across the globe as it brings back the popular Straw Hat Crew including Captain Monkey D. Luffy. Stranded on an island after a tragic sea storm, the crew must figure out a way to make it out of the island by all means.

2023 is already looking like a year that’ll be filled with many exciting titles with One Piece Odyssey already amassing lots of players on another experience-filled adventure. There’s a lot to do in Bandai Namco’s newest RPG that’s inspired by the long-running manga series but does One Piece Odyssey have Gear 5?

Does One Piece Odyssey Have Gear 5? – Explained

While a lot of players would love to have Gear 5 in One Piece Odyssey, it’s very likely won’t be in the game. Considering the fact that video games take years to develop, Gears 5 is a relatively new event in the manga, so players shouldn’t expect to see it in One Piece Odyssey.

When the story and overall game development was underway for One Piece Odyssey, Gear 5 hadn’t exactly become a thing, in fact, Gear 4 was what was prominently featured in the game’s launch trailer in early 2022.

It’s worth noting that Gear 5 is yet to make its debut in anime. We’ve only seen a tease of Gear 5 in the Red film, and still, it was mostly released to excite fans of the upcoming debut.

Visual design aside, a lot of Gear 5 features are going to come from the anime, especially stuff like sound effects, vocal changes, and physical mannerisms that aren’t already referred to in the manga because these things are relevant and you’ll find them from the anime adaptation before anywhere else.

However, this isn’t to say that there’s absolutely no hope of Gear 5 eventually making its way to One Piece Odyssey. It could happen at some point via DLC but currently, there’s no official statement from the game’s developers if this will happen.
