Catching a Woodskip in Stardew Valley

The Woodskip can only be caught in two places, but the most common place is the Secret Woods’ pond. If you haven’t been to the Secret Woods yet, head south from your farm to Marnie’s Ranch, then go straight west.

You’ll reach a small forest entrance blocked by a large log, so you’ll need to upgrade your axe to at least Steel Axe before you can break through.

Inside the Secret Woods, walk all the way to the west and you’ll find a little pond. Cast your fishing rod into the pod and keep fishing until you get a Woodskip.

That’s all there is to it, really. The Woodskip is available in all seasons at all times, so you can try to catch one whenever you want. It’s a rare catch, so don’t give up if you get a bunch of Carps. Just keep trying and eventually you’ll get one.

The only other place you can catch a Woodskip is at the Forest Farm. If you picked the Forest Farm layout at the beginning of the game, then you have a small chance to catch a Woodskip at your farm’s ponds.

However, the catch rate for Woodskip at the Forest Farm is much lower than at the Secret Woods. In fact, if your luck for the day is too low, it can be outright impossible to catch one. Check your daily luck on the TV to make sure it’s not an unlucky day.

Those are two ways to catch Woodskip. Technically, you can also purchase one if happens to show up at the Traveling Cart, but this very rarely happens.
