Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon

Yacht Club Head of Marketing: Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon Mobile Version “Not in the Pipeline”

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon is a very interesting take on the puzzle game genre that combines features from the best games released in the past and others taken from the original Shovel Knight and its expansions. And like every puzzle game, it would definitely be a great fit for mobile devices, given how the game does not have complex controls that could be hard to translate to touch screen controls.

And yet, it seems like Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon is not coming to iOS and Android devices anytime soon, according to Yacht Club Head of Marketing Celia Schilling.

Yacht Club Head of Marketing: Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon Mobile Version “Not in the Pipeline”

Speaking with Guide Fall, Yacht Club Head of Marketing Celia Shilling has been asked about a mobile release of Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon and her answer doesn’t exactly bring good news. While she thinks it would be cool for the game to hit iOS and Android, it is currently not in the pipeline, as the developer is focusing on the PC and console versions of the game and it is planning to release some DLC as well.

As for why Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon isn’t out on iOS and Android to begin with, the Yacht Club head of Marketing couldn’t really say. As the game was more inspired by classic retro puzzle games like Wario’s Woods and Yoshi’s Cookies, it probably felt natural for the developer to target consoles, rather than mobile devices with touch screen controls.

Despite a mobile version of Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon not being in the pipeline, the door hasn’t been closed completely, so we may still see the game making it to the App Store and Google Play Store in the future. Plenty of games did make the jump even years after their original PC and console release, like Dead Cells and Alien Isolation, so the possibility is definitely there. For the time being, if you want to enjoy the game on the go, you will have to purchase the Nintendo Switch version.
