In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Nemona, who at first is your trainer, is also your rival. She will be present when it’s time for you to choose your starting partner Pokemon. Nemona loves being a part of Pokémon battles and simply wants you to succeed in all your travels.

Throughout your journey, she will be a reliable guide that you can count on to help you get out of tough situations. And although she has undisputed skills when going up against other trainers, it’s no surprise that she’s not that great at throwing Poké Balls. So although she’s your rival, she wants you to succeed all the way.

Interestingly, it does not seem like Nemona will receive one of the three starter Pokémon at the beginning of the journey. The battle shown in the trailer has Nemona sending out a Pawmi, the new electric-type rodent Pokémon.

The majority of these new titles like Scarlet and Violet are promised to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series,” with players offered the chance to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.”

You will be able to see Pokémon everywhere in this “wide-open world,” whether that be in the skies, in the sea or on the streets.
