What’s New in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update?

Ever since its release back in March 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been updated with new seasonal content that allowed players to enjoy their time on their island more. Sadly, all good things come to an end, and update 2.0 will be the final major update for the game.

Originally scheduled to go live on November 5, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 is now live across the globe, bringing tons of new free content and support for the Happy Home Paradise DLC expansion. Here’s all the new content included in the 2.0 update.

What’s New in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update?

The Roost

After installing the 2.0 update, and helping museum director Blathers with a certain task, Brewster will open the Roost, a new location where players can take a break, relax and even interact with other island residents. Inside the Roost, it’s also possible to use amiibo cards to invite other characters.

The Boat Tour

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update also lets players explore a variety of remote islands thanks to the Kapp’n boat tour. Head over to the pier and speak with the character to embark on a sea voyage that will lead you to different islands with new flora, different seasons, and times of day.

Gyroids

The new 2.0 update also introduces Gyroids, new items that can be dug from the ground that play different sounds and that can be customized to match the surroundings when they are placed.

Harv’s Island Open Market

With update 2.0, Harv’s Island has gone through a major renewal, with many shops opening on the island for the first time. Among the shops are Reese & Cyrus’s shop that offers furniture customization not available outside of the shop, and Katrina’s shop, where you will be able to get your fortune for the day read.

Cooking

Update 2.0 adds Cooking to DIY recipes, allowing you to combine your harvest or other ingredients to cook food yourself.

Expanded Nook, Inc.

With update 2.0, Nook, Inc. offers further support for your island life, ranging from bigger home storage to the Resident Representative being able to establish a variety of ordinances that will allow you to further customize your island in many interesting ways.

How to Download the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update will be downloaded automatically by your Nintendo Switch system. In case this does not happen, get into the console’s Home Menu, highlight the game and press the +. Navigate your software options to find the Update option, select it and wait for the update to download and install. Once this is done, you will be able to enjoy all the new content straight away!
