With Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl showing off a ton of new features and quality-of-life improvements, there are some neat developments in the shiny hunting section of the game as well. Primarily, every Pokemon other than the 2 box legendaries can be randomly encountered as Shiny Pokemon.

What are the Default Wild Shiny Chances in the Pokemon BDSP games?

The base odds for encountering a wild shiny Pokemon are 1/4,096. Theoretically, this should result in finding 1 shiny Pokemon with every 4,096 Pokemon encounters.

These odds, on their own, still seem pretty daunting, but there are a number of ways the game lets you make the mission of finding a shiny much easier.

The most common method is chaining wild Pokemon encounters; the more you see the same wild Pokemon, the higher its shiny odds get!

Other methods include the PokeRadar method, using the Shiny Charm, and the one that boosts your shiny odds the highest—to an astounding 1/683—the Masuda method.
