Last October, Touch Tap Play was very impressed with the mobile version of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. It delivered a full-fledged one-to-one conversion of the original game with no features left out.

While GWENT focused on a competitive multiplayer scene, CD Projekt Red was hard at work on making another card game with a strong narrative focus – enter Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, a single player card battler set in The Witcher universe.

Thronebreaker puts players into the shoes of Queen Meve, a war-veteran queen of both Lyria and Rivia. Nilfgaardians are planning to invade, and Meve must once again take up the blade to take her enemies down.

Gameplay wise, Thronebreaker is just like GWENT in that players will do battle in card game battles. As Queen Meve fights against the Nilfgaardians, she will come across many characters who may join her army, which adds their cards to the player’s deck.

Though, there will be times where Meve must make challenging decisions which can result in the loss of a character, thus losing your deck potential. Think all of your decisions through carefully!

There are also scenarios where Meve will be forced to work with a preset deck, forcing her to adapt to the battlefield. Many challenges like these await you in her story against the Nilfgaardians.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is available now on the App Store for 9.99 USD.
