With the recently launched Lush Jungle event in Pokemon GO, there have been a lot of new fun and exciting additions to the augmented-reality Pokemon-catching game, with new Pokemon being added in left, right, and center, such as Stufful and Fomantis.

Not only are ordinary Pokemon being added in, but Legendary Pokemon too! One of these Legendaries is none other than an Island Guardian, Tapu Lele. This Psychic / Fairy type is no pushover, as it is only available to battle and capture as a 5-Star raid boss!

If you want to know Tapu Lele’s counters and weaknesses in Pokemon GO for its raid battle, then continue reading this article.

Tapu Lele’s Weaknesses in Pokemon GO

Tapu Lele possesses a strong defensive dual typing. Psychic and Fairy nicely cover each type’s weaknesses, which leaves Tapu Lele with only three weaknesses: Steel, Ghost, and Poison.

With that in mind, make sure you carry at least a couple of Pokemon that possess those types, or at the very least, possess coverage moves of those three types.

Tapu Lele’s Counters in Pokemon GO

Tapu Lele has access to coverage moves like Astonish and Focus Blast in addition to Psyshock and Moonblast. Usually, Steel and Ghost type Pokemon would be perfect counters to Tapu Lele, but since it has access to moves that hit those types for super-effective, things can get a little tricky.

This just goes to show the how strong Tapu Lele is, so play skillfully with the semi-counters available at your disposal and you should still be able to take this Island Guardian down. Below are a list of effective Pokemon to use against Tapu Lele:

  • Mega Gengar – Lick and Shadow Ball
  • Mega Beedrill – Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb
  • Metagross – Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash
  • Dialga – Metal Claw and Iron Head
  • Genesect – Metal Claw and Magnet Bomb
  • Mewtwo – Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball
  • Excadrill – Metal Claw and Iron Head
  • Trevenant – Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
  • Scizor – Bullet Punch and Iron Head
