A year after its initial announcement, Namco Bandai’s Tales of Crestoria has been officially slated for a late June release. Tales of Crestoria is the latest entry in the ever popular Japanese RPG Tales franchise, and this entry seeks to mix things up.
The Tales series is no stranger to the mobile market, with earlier titles like Tales of the Rays and Tales of Link. These games were treated not as full length games, but rather little spin-off games that any Tales fan could appreciate, where players could collect their favorite heroes from across the main games in typical gacha fashion.
Tales of Crestoria, however, aims to be a full-fledged experience, with a brand new cast and a deep storyline that rivals the main series console games. A young man named Kanata Hjuger finds himself a wanted criminal after he protects someone dear to him. Through the use of mystic “vision orbs,” Kanata is branded as a transgressor, and now he must outrun the law before he is punished for an unjust crime.
As a rather unique approach to the series, Tales of Crestoria does not use an action-oriented combat system. Instead, battles take place in a traditional turn-based fashion, where players can attack, use special techniques called artes, and of course unleash the series trademark super move mystic artes.
Tales of Crestoria is planned to launch on June 30, 2020 on the App Store and Google Play Store.
