Square Enix’s Free To Play RPG SINoALICE Confirmed For North America, Europe

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

A lot of Square Enix free-to-play role-playing games have been released in North America and Europe on iOS and Android devices, but there are many that have only been released in Japan. This is going to end soon, as another one has been confirmed for English-speaking territories today.

The Japanese publisher confirmed today that SINoALICE is going to be released soon on iOS and Android in North America and Europe. The game is notable for having been directed by Yoko Taro, the mind behind some of the most interesting Japanese role-playing games ever released like Drakengard, Nier and Nier Automata.

SINoALICE is made quite interesting by some design choices. The game features a variety of playable characters who are taken from fairy tales. Each character comes with a core nature that defies them which is different from what one might expect, as it’s, usually, a dark core nature.

Red Riding Hood is defined by violence, The Little Mermaid by sorrow, Pinocchio by dependency and so on. Being a Yoko Taro game, this is hardly surprising, as the Japanese developer is known for subverting expectations in his games at every turn.

An English SINoALICE trailer has yet to be released, but you can check out a Japanese trailer below to see more of the game.
