With dangers lurking behind every corner, you will need to heal as often as possible. Here’s everything you need to know about the healing options available to you and which ones are the most effective.

How to Recover HP and MP in Shin Megami Tensei V

Shin Megami Tensei V offers a variety of healing options, and which one is the best depends on your current situation.

The most practical healing option at almost every time is the Recovery option available at any Leyline Fountain. With this feature, it is possible to restore any character’s HP and MP by paying Macca. The healing costs depend on the character’s level, and the only way to lower them is by learning the Healer’s Hospitality Miracles.

Using the Recovery option requires you to get to a Leyline Fountain, which may not be an option in your current situation. For some quick and free healing, you should collect Magatsuhi Crystals, the glowing orbs that can be found on the ground all over Tokyo. The green orbs recover HP, the yellow ones MP and the red ones the Magatsuhi bar.

Restoring the Magatsuhi bar, in turn, could lead to some free HP and MP restoration in battle, if you have learned the Magatsuhi Wellspring Miracle. This Miracle slightly restores all party members’ HP and MP at the start of the turn if the Magatushi bar is fully restored. The Restore and High Restore skills also restore MP when the user lands a critical hit or hits an enemy with their weakness, so make sure to learn them as quickly as possible to be able to fight for longer without having to spend items or Macca to restore your MP. Mana Aid is another useful passive skill that restores your MP slightly at the end of each battle.

All these options may not be good when you are in a pinch, so you will have to resort to healing skills and items, which can be used both in the field and in combat, if you need urgent healing. MP restoration items, like Chakra Drops and the Chakra Pots, are way rare than HP restoration ones, so make sure to use them only when absolutely necessary.

Now that you have mastered the art of healing, it’s time to venture out into Tokyo once again. Use all you have learned properly, and you will have no trouble surviving all the dangers ahead of you!
