Complete the story quests!
At any point you can refer to your main story quests if you are ever lost. Simply look at the bottom of the screen and you can see what your next quest is.
Each story chapter in the game has a set of story quests for you to complete, with around five or so quests for each chapter. Each one is worth a lot of experience, so it is important to do them.
Upon full completion of a chapter’s story quests, you will be able to claim the Chapter Rewards, which is full of awesome goodies like gems, speed ups, and tons and tons of resources.
Level up your Lord skills!
Your Lord is your player character in Rise of the Kings. In addition to your kingdom leveling up, your Lord will level up as well, and they will gain their own skill points. These points can be distributed in one of the three trees: Battle, Development, and Assist.
Battle will boost your war efforts, while the Development tree deals with the growth of your kingdom. The Assist tree is a little mix of both, mainly dealing with faster recovery and training times.
All three trees are pretty helpful, but be a little mindful of where you spend your points. You can eventually reset your skill points, but it costs a whopping 1,000 gems to do so, so be careful!
Claim your freebies!
You can get a lot of nice rewards simply by staying logged on for long enough, and for logging into the game at least once every day. Rise of the Kings absolutely bombards you with freebies, and you can collect most of them from the Event Center and Benefits Center.
When you see a hero icon pop up at the bottom left corner, that is a “time online” reward so make sure to collect those too.
Research at the Institute!
You will eventually build an Institute, and here you can undergo various research projects. Just like the Lord skills, there are three research trees, but you do not have to worry about allocating skill points.
You just have to queue up a research and wait the allotted time, and then you will gain a permanent buff to your kingdom. It is important to have these running at all times!
Keep training troops!
Rise of the Kings is one of those games where unit type and composition does not really matter, so as long as you have the numbers. Simply put, the more units you have the easier it will be to win.
It does not matter which units, just make sure you have a LOT of them. To ensure this, always keep your training facilities busy with new troops. Your army will grow on its own overtime.
Check your bag for goodies!
Over time, you may notice the notification number next to your bag will reach an outrageous number. This is because all of those freebies and rewards are sent straight to your bag, and you need to manually claim some of them.
Resource rewards, special items, gems, VIP time must be activated manually. Be sure to look through your bag and use all the of freebies you receive.
