Kero Blaster has been developed by Studio Pixel, the same team behind the successful Cave Story. The game was originally called Gero Blaster by Daisuke Amaya recently had a change of heart and changed the game’s name to Kero Blaster.

Kero Blaster plays pretty much like what you’d expect from a retro game developed in recent times. The game features plenty of side-scrolling action, enemies to destroy with laser guns, some light role playing game elements and plenty of fun. As if this wasn’t enough and you need some extra motivation to play the game, you will be pleased to know that the game features a quirky story about a frog trying to rescue its lover from the clutches of evil. Old school indeed, folks.

Kero Blaster will launch on the App Store on May 11th. A new trailer has been released for the game in English – you can literally jump on it by going at the end of this post. If you can understand Japanese, you can also take a look at the game’s official website.
