The legendary puzzle game series Professor Layton has its roots on the Nintendo DS. Originally released in 2008, Professor Layton and the Curious Village marked the now iconic professor’s debut, and it introduced the world to a bundle of equally charming and mind-bending puzzles.

Last year, LEVEL-5, the studio behind the games, brought one of their more recent Layton adventures to mobile in the form of Layton’s Mystery Journey. Now, they have finally brought the very first game in the series and revamped it for a whole new mobile experience: Professor Layton Curious Village HD!

Professor Layton Curious Village HD is a full HD port of the original Nintendo DS game. Professor Layton, a true English gentleman and renowned archaeologist, travels alongside Luke, his apprentice. They have been summoned to the mysterious town of St. Mystere at the request of one of the townspeople.

A wealthy baron in the town has passed away, and his will states that whoever finds his family treasure, the “Golden Apple,” will inherit his entire Estate. With not much to go off of, the Professor and Luke must discover the history – and truth – behind the Golden Apple.

If you are new the series, the Layton series is a full-on puzzle adventure. Layton and Luke will travel around in an adventure game style, but when they come across something important a puzzle must be solved first. These puzzles can range from simple slide puzzles to incredibly complex critical thinking puzzles, so there’s something for everyone!
