Yep, this game is going to teach you how to survive in some (very unlikely) circumstances that might make you think again whether or not you’ll take that boat to go fishing again – or at least make you see life on a boat from a whole new perspective.

Since this is a survival game, you’ll have to make do with a ton of useless items which you will then have to craft into some better ones and eventually help you expand your tiny little boat to even grow crops and such. Sounds interesting? Well, let’s dive right into the Ocean Survival tips and tricks then!

Get used to the controls

When you are just getting started in the game, all you have to do is get used to your surroundings. Check how it feels when the character moves and learn how to use the jump skill. It will help you for when you are walking around and jumping in the water.

Oh, if you didn’t know, you can also jump in the water and collect the junk floating around. That is way easier to do than trying to aim with the harpoon, but if you stay for too long, it’s not good either.

So yeah, my suggestion would be to get used to the controls and try to master them. It’s not difficult at all, but it is good to know how to use them best. Do this at the very beginning, even if something bad happens and you will have to restart.

At start pick up all the junk!

It might not seem like much, but picking up all of the floating items that you see at first is going to be pretty useful. They will add up and before you know it you’ll have a pretty solid supply of materials you can use to craft.

Also, by picking up all of the items that you can – or most of them at least, you will gain experience. Overall, it’s super useful so don’t skip out on any of the planks, boxes, and whatnot.

Adjust your aim and go for the boxes

Often you will see mysterious wooden boxes floating around the ocean. Adjust your aim and try to get them with your hook if possible and if they are not too far away. I would also suggest trying to aim a little bit above them and at maximum power, because I think that is the best way to go about it.

I had a pretty difficult time picking them up at the beginning, but soon I figured the right way to aim. Like I previously mentioned, it’s best if you aim a little higher than the actual item, because physics. It is also better to send the hook at maximum speed because it is going to travel further.

One other thing you need to take into consideration is that the boat is constantly moving. Or the items are. Either way, before you shoot, make sure you are also aligned a little bit in front of the object you want to fish out because the item is constantly moving.

Focus on the most important stuff first

Some of the most important things you need for survival are water and food. Let’s forget about shelter for a second, because you’re castaway in the ocean – so it’s not like you can go anywhere to seek shelter.

And now as for water and food, you will need two things: a water purifier and a cooking station. These will help you get your basic need covered and keep them somehow under control.

– The water purifier: will help you get clean, fresh water out of the sea to help you deal with thirst. You will need 5 planks, 1 empty tin cans and 2 ropes to build one, but it is a permanent item so you don’t have to build one super often (unless something happens to it).

– The cooking station: this is going to need 3 planks, 3 scrap and 2 ropes to build. Here you can cook potatoes, fish and so on and it will come in handy when you want to restore your health and hunger. It’s super important that you build one early game, because it will help you more than you think!

Expand your boat

You can build so many things on your boat, you have no idea! From adding floors to the raft, to crafting beds and even doors and windows – everything is possible. However, you need to start somewhere.

That somewhere is the base. Start adding planks all around the base in order to expand it. That will help you get more space to work with and make everything a lot safer. In the space that you have you can place a lot of items, and make everything like a mini self sustaining house.

Yes, that sounds like it will take a while – and it will. But for now, all you have to do is to focus on adding a few base planks all around the boat. To build a base you need 2 planks and 1 rope, so keep fishing them up!

Craft tools – they are super important for your survival

Tools will help you build more stuff and help you expand – and much more, but let’s start off easy! You will need to first make a Spear to fend off the attacking sharks. This requires 2 planks and 1 scrap, so it’s going to be easy to make.

Next up get that fishing rod to help you catch fish. This goes without saying, should be crafted only after you crafted the cooking station. For a fishing rod you need 1 plank, 1 scrap and 1 rope, so this will be easy too.

Now these would be the starting items. As for the later on items you can craft, you will need to level up a little. Once you do, make sure you craft the hammer, axe and pickaxe because they will come in handy. Also, that chest should be on the priority list as well since you can craft items and store them in there.

Sharks attack at night! Keep them at bay and keep your stuff safe!

Like I mentioned before, building a base (for start) for your raft is important because it will keep the sharks away from you. When you craft a cooking station and a water purifier you will be placing them on some of the base planks.

Now you need to know that the sharks could easily attack them! I suggest that you craft around them so the survival stations will be in the middle, where it will be more difficult for the sharks to get. Also, once they attack the base, they will disappear. Craft more and always be prepared.

The reason why you crafted the spear is to fend off the shark. If you see the text that it is approaching, scout the area and if you notice it, attack it with the spear! It will leave the boat and you could possibly save the supplies and raft.

Log in daily for good rewards

The daily rewards are super, super important in Ocean Survival. Since this is a survival game, you will need every single piece of resource you can get, because you never know when you might need it.

I really suggest that you log in every day into the game to simply collect them, because the stuff you get will be useful. Even if you don’t plan on playing that particular day, still you should consider logging in to claim the rewards because you will thank yourself later!
