Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a fast and frantic platform fighter featuring all your favorite Nicktoons, ranging from classics like Ren & Stimpy to new kids on the block like The Loud House. The game is being developed by indie studios Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, and is scheduled for a late 2021 release.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is very clearly inspired by Nintendo’s hit platform fighter Super Smash Bros, and it definitely shows. Take one look at the announcement trailer, and you’ll see the similarities right away, though of course it’s not a bad thing.
Ludosity is a Swedish indie developer who made their first big break with their Legend of Zelda inspired adventure game, Ittle Dew. This studio seems to really enjoy Nintendo’s works, so it’s kind of fitting that their next big project is based off of one of Nintendo’s biggest series.
Though at first glance, you may be tempted to write off Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl as another generic licensed game, but Ludosity’s involvement may convince you otherwise. You see, Ludosity themselves tried their hand at a Smash clone a few years ago in the form of the hilariously named Slap City.
Slap City is a platform fighter that featured a cast of characters that came from Ludosity’s past projects, like the aforementioned Ittle Dew. The game was a straight clone of Super Smash Bros, as it featured percentage-based damage and a stock lives system. Each character had normal attacks and specials they could use to overwhelm their opponents.

The game received very positive reviews, and though the player base never really got too big, it served as a launchpad for Ludosity to get a handle on how to design a game based on Super Smash Bros. They took all the experience and knowledge they gained from developing Slap City and stored it for future projects.
And now, we’ve come full circle! Nickelodeon has brought on Ludosity to develop Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and we couldn’t be any happier with their involvement. Ludosity has demonstrated that they’re pretty big Nintendo fans in the past, and they’ve proven with Slap City that they can make a pretty competent platform fighter. This is why Ludosity’s involvement with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is nothing but good news.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is scheduled for a late 2021 release and will be available for PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for updates!
