Magia Record is a brand new side story to the original series, so fans of the anime or manga should not miss out on this game! Let’s get started with our Magia Record tips and tricks strategy guide!

Connect for big buffs!

Certain magical girls have really good connection buffs. As a reminder, when you activate Charge disks that character gains up to three charge points, and once they have full charge points they can let another character act in their place while providing them with a substantial buff. Proper timing is required, because connect buffs only last for the same turn they are used!

As an example, the NPC support character you can call upon during the first chapters, Momoko Togame, can provide characters with the “Ignore DEF” buff, which enables characters to pierce an enemy’s defense, causing them to take massive damage. Careful use of Connect buffs can make short work of enemies!

Try out different Magical Formations!

When preparing for a battle, you can change your formation around by tapping the Magical Formation button. Different formations allow you to place your magical girls in different spots on the board, so consider that before you pick one.

The most important thing to remember though is that there will be certain spots on the formation grid that buff whatever magical girl is standing there. There are ATK and DEF up buffs, so be sure to place your strongest girls here!

Activate combos!

If you use three disks with all the same girl on them, you will activate the Puella Combo. This greatly increases the amount of damage that girl dishes out for that turn, so go for these whenever you see three or more disks on hand!

You can also activate combos that match the type of disks used. For example, if you use multiple Charge disks you will activate a Charge Combo, which grants charge points to the whole party. Blast Combos deal more damage, and Accele Combos increase the amount of magia gained. Rapid use of combos will make short work of enemies!

Use Memoria to enhance your girls!

Memoria is basically Magia Record’s form of equipment. Your girls can equip up to four memoria, though they will only be able to equip one at first. Memoria boosts your girls stats and provide them with special abilities.

There are two types of memoria: skill memoria and ability memoria. Skill memoria lets your girls use powerful skills that can buff, debuff, and damage enemies. These skills can be accessed through the skill menu during battle. Ability memoria are passive abilities that are always active as soon as a magical girl equips it.

Memorias can really give your girls’ the upper hand if they have the right ones equipped. Try to use memorias that compliment your girls’ stats!

Do not forget about the elements!

Each girl has an elemental affinity, and just like other RPG’s Magia Record uses the traditional rock-paper-scissors system. Fire beats grass, grass beats, water, and water beats grass. Light and dark beat each other out.

If your girl has the advantageous element, they will do increased damage against your foes. Before you head into a level, you can see what kind of elements you will be going up against, so prepare accordingly!

Head into the Labyrinth for enhancement stones!

The Labyrinth of Enhancement and Awakening is your go-to place if you want to enhance your girls and unlock their magic. You can only get certain stones on each day of the week. Here is the full schedule:

Labyrinth of Enhancement

  • Monday: Fire, Grass
  • Tuesday: Water, Light
  • Wednesday: Grass, Dark
  • Thursday: Light, Fire
  • Friday: Shadow, Water

Labyrinth of Awakening

  • Monday: Dark
  • Tuesday: Fire
  • Wednesday: Water
  • Thursday: Grass
  • Friday: Light

On the weekends, EVERY element is available, so it is the best time to hunt for enhancement stones!
