Jet Car Stunts 2 Review (iOS)

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Jet Car Stunts is one of the best racers available on iOS, thanks to its physics based engine, excellent tilt controls and challenging experience. The fact that the game has been quite successful is proof enough that there’s a market for hardcore games on iOS and that many gamers can enjoy a more involving experience on the go.

Jet Car Stunts 2 builds on the formula of the original game while still offering the same engaging experience. Jet Car Stunts 2 includes more cars, more tracks and a slew of new features. All the additions are extremely well crafted and contribute in making the experience even more engaging than before.

All tracks of the game are split up among four different game modes: race, platform, freestyle and time trial. In race mode you will compete against other cars. In platform mode you will be pushing your skills to the limits, with some complicated tracks to complete. In freestyle mode you will try to earn as much points as possible by performing stunts. In time trial you will be competing against the clock, earning gold, silver and bronze medals depending on your final time. The different play modes are all quite engaging, offering a good variety to the gameplay experience.

Even more variety is added by the new car types. Together with the original game’s car type, you’ll get more different styles that will be better suited for a specific track or play mode. With a bit of practice, you will be able to use all the car types in all the different tracks, which is quite rewarding.

Just like the first game, Jet Car Stunts is definitely not a game for casual players. The physics based gameplay experience requires extreme skills and precision. It’s not unusual that you will find yourself repeating some difficult passages over and over, which might lead to some frustration. Gamers who love a good challenge will not find this troubling but this could be a problem for gamers who are more used to easygoing gameplay experiences. Luckily the game tilt controls never get in the way, showing a level of accuracy that I have hardly experience in other games.

The game’s presentation is also very good thanks to its slick 3D graphics. They’re not the best graphics we have seen in an iOS game, but they’re quite good and serve they purpose well. They even manage to look good on older iOS devices.

Jet Car Stunts 2 is a free to play game, with the basic free download offering only a taste of the whole experience. I find this choice to be a smart one even though I don’t really like in-game purchases. With the game being a challenging experience that can put off some gamers, having the possibility to try it out beforehand will probably increase its popularity over time. The way the in-app purchases have been implemented is also very interesting, with a lot of different packages that will allow gamers to purchase only the things they really want to unlock.

Included in the full package is the level editor, which allows gamers to create some custom tracks. The editor works in a really intuitive way, encouraging gamers to try it out and share they’re own creations

Jet Car Stunts 2 is an excellent addition to the ever growing iOS library. It’s not a game that can be played casually, that’s for sure, but it’s still a rewarding experience if you are willing to invest some time into it. Once the controls and the driving mechanics are fully understood, you’ll probably love the game so much that you won’t stop playing it anytime soon.
