Elden Ring challenges players with quite a number of terrifying bosses, and the first one you’ll face is Grafted Scion, an overwhelmingly fast boss with vicious sword skills.
This boss is stylishly tough; some players may just give up on the game after trying to defeat him a few times. Fortunately, it is required that you die in that particular area in order to move forward with the story.

So while a handful of players may give up on the game because of the Grafted Scion, it is actually possible to defeat this boss, and in this article, we’ll be showing you just how to do that.
Players can beat Grafted Scion in the first encounter. This will take some patience because two successful hits from him can take you out. So the best possible way to defeat Grafted Scion is by evading its basic sword attacks and quickly attacking it from behind.
Often, you will need to roll backward whenever the boss uses its damaging body slam or scream wave attacks on you, if it successfully lands a hit on you with either of these attacks, it’ll drain your HP heavily.
However, the Grafted Scion is an optional boss, so you don’t necessarily need to defeat it. It does, however, drop a loot that gives players a good headstart as they delve deeper into the world. Once defeated, Grafted Scion drops an Ornamental Straight Swords and a Golden Beast Crest Shield. There’s also 3,200 Runes to be looted, but since you have to die to continue onto the next cutscene, you will be forced to lose them.
It’s possible to defeat Grafted Scion and afterwards, you will jump from the area’s cliff and die. That’s where you’ll kick off your main gameplay and delve into the game’s open world.
