So, what can the Dual Blades really do in Monster Hunter Rise? Let us find out.

Overview

Dual Blades are incredibly fun to use thanks to their high speed, but they are definitely not a weapon type that is suited for beginners. As they lack any sort of defensive option, evading enemy attacks is the only way to avoid getting killed, requiring a very good knowledge of attack patterns. The fact that their Sharpness decreases so often compared to other weapons also introduces another complication that a beginner may not be ready to deal with so often.

Demon Inside

The Dual Blades unique mechanic is Demon Mode. This special mode is activated by pressing the ZR button, improving attack power and movement speed and making you immune to knockback. The downside is that Stamina will gruadually decrease, so you will have to manage it properly to avoid being left defenseless. Attacking while in Demon Mode fills the Demon Gauge, which can be used to unleash Archdemon Mode, a mode that further increases attack power and mobility.

You Can’t See Me

Managing Demon Mode properly is extremely important to avoid getting damaged too much. The Dual Blades lack any sort of defensive option, so the only thing you can do to avoid damage is get out of the way. While in Demon Mode, movement speed increases exponentially with unsheated weapons, so make sure to take advantage of this even when you are not on the offensive.

Elemental Mastery

Even without Demon Mode activated, the Dual Blades are a pretty fast weapon type. While they do not exactly hit hard, the fast attack speed works great in conjuction with elemental attacks. You can also wield blades with two different elemental properties, expanding your combat options quite a bit.

Always Sharpen Your Weapons

The fast attack speed of the Dual Blades means that you will use your weapons more frequently, which in turn means that Sharpness will decrease much more often than with other weapons. As such, you should always keep an eye on the Sharpness, and restore it when needed to avoid lessening the effectiveness of your Dual Blades of choice.
