If you’re looking for a challenge, however, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD does provide an additional play mode called Hero Mode where your skills will indeed be put to the test. Here’s how to unlock it.

Unlocking Hero Mode is as straightforward as it is time-consuming. To access this new, more challenging playthrough, you will need to complete the game once. Once this has been done, you will have access to Hero Mode, which will make you start right from the beginning of the game.

Hero Mode Changes

Hero Mode is a much more challenging variant of the campaign you have already experienced. In Hero Mode, all enemies do double damage, Hearts and Heart Flowers do not appear without the Heart Medal and Stamina and Oxygen consumption is doubled. At the same time, you do not start as weak as you did in the first playthrough, as all Sheikah Stones will be unlocked from the start, and the Skyward Strike will be fully powered from the beginning. Demise will also make an appearance in the Thunder Dragon’s Lightning Round.
