Defeating the Eye of Cthulhu in Terraria is easy. All you need is a ranged weapon, a melee weapon, Campfires, and a few other items. Here’s a brief guide!
Terraria: How to Summon the Eye of Cthulhu
The Eye of Cthulhu will be your first boss fight in the game. Since the summoning requirements are not very demanding, this boss can catch you off guard.
The Eye of Cthulhu doesn’t exactly have to be summoned because it spawns automatically when some pre-determined conditions are met. The boss will spawn if you have 200 HP obtained through Life Hearts, over 10 defenses, and four or more NPCs.
Once you beat the Eye of Cthulhu, you can summon it again for gold and other items. For this, you can use Suspicious Looking Eye.
The Suspicious Looking Eye can be found in Dungeon or Cavern layer chests. You can also craft the Suspicious Looking Eye by putting together six pieces of lenses at a Crimson or Demon Altar.
Defeating the Eye of Cthulhu
Emerging victorious in your first boss battle is not at all a difficult task. In fact, with the right preparation and weapons, you can beat it easily before the day breaks.
As the spawning conditions are rather simple, the Eye of Cthulhu can spawn any time. Its arrival is marked by the line ‘You feel an evil presence watching you…’ Hence, it is better to start preparations ASAP.
Weapons, Armor, and Arena
When it comes to weapons, ranged weapons will make your job easier. You can use a Gold or Platinum Bow with normal or special arrows. You can also use a Musket. Melee weapons like Gold Sword can easily beat the servants of the Eye.
As far as armor is concerned, you can go for Gold, Platinum, or Tungsten armor. They are good enough to get you through the fight. If you find Hermes Boots, then do use them in the battle.
To make the battle easier, raise some wooden platforms in the boss arena. Set up some Campfires to regenerate health.
Beating the Eye of Cthulhu
The best time to start this fight is just after 7:30 so you have maximum time to deal with the boss.
The Eye of Cthulhu goes through two phases. During the first phase, the Eye will release some servants to attack you. To slay the servants, you need to switch to a melee weapon that will slice through the horde.
Once the horde is slain, switch back to a ranged weapon. During the second phase, the iris turns into a mouth full of fangs eager to bite you.
Whenever the boss lunges at you, you have to dodge it. It will attack you three times in a row and pause briefly before attacking again. You should charge at it during this transition.
After the Eye of Cthulhu is down, don’t forget to collect the dropped items.
