How to Scan in NEO: The World Ends With You

The ability to scan is unlocked pretty much at the start of the game, once Rindo and Fret start playing the Reapers’ Game. All you need to do to scan is press the R button at any time while exploring Shibuya. The screen will turn darker and you will be able to listen to Shibuya’s citizens’ thoughts and fight the Noise.

As you proceed through the story and unlock additional skills, you will be able to access a few more abilities while scanning, such as the ability to chain a bigger number of Noise encounters, Dive into other people’s consciousness to clear it of the Noise, attract far away Noise to make it easier to chain a huge number of encounters and so on.

Scanning is an essential tool in the Reapers’ Game’s players’ bag, so mastering it as soon as possible will allow you to survive the dangers of the Game.
