The magical RPG Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, by Jam City, was released in 2018. It is full of fun characters, fascinating Hogwarts lore, and magical spells to learn. As a new Hogwarts student, you attend classes and try to pass exams, all while making friends and solving mysteries. Some of the friends you make along the way will present you with quizzes to test your knowledge on a certain subject. One such friend is Penny Haywood, a friendly and clever witch who loves plants and animals. She can help with a lot of potions, including the Polyjuice Potion.
Making Polyjuice Potion in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery
In Chapter 31 Year 6, you find out from Mad-Eye Moody that you will need to make a potion to turn into a dark wizard in order to infiltrate their group. It is a dangerous task, but you know exactly the potion to do this: the Polyjuice Potion. You also know exactly the person who can help make the potion: Penny Haywood. The only issue is you will have to convince Penny to help, as she knows how dangerous it will be if the potion fails!
How to Convince Penny to Help Make Polyjuice Potion
- Why does it have to be me? You’re a brilliant potioneer
- Can’t you try another disguise? I’m sure this is the safest plan
- Polyjuice Potions are too risky. It’s worth it to stop Rakepick
- We could get in trouble at school. But we could also save lives
- What if it wears off too soon? I’ll have a foolproof back up plan
- Why do we have to do this now? Because Rowan deserves justice
Answering with those statements will convince Penny to help you make the potion. She then asks you to meet her at the Training Grounds, and explains how you will need to help her capture a tiny creature so she can make the potion…
Polyjuice Ingredients
First you will have to gather Lacewing Flies. You will need 5 Stars, or 3 Stars to pass, and will have to complete it in 3 hours. Penny reminds you that the potion needs a month to brew, and tells you that the next lot of ingredients are held in the Potions Classroom.
The rest of the ingredients are:
- Leeches
- Boomslang Skin
- Powdered Bicorn Horn
- Knotgrass
- Fluxweed picked under a full moon
- A piece of the person you want to imitate
Gathering Knotgrass only requires 1 Star, so you can reserve energy for the next task. The Fluxweed needs to be gathered under a full moon so this task requires 5 Stars to pass. Unfortunately, Penny had no luck gathering her ingredients, so you must work together to finish the potion. You distract Madam Pince while Penny sneaks in to the Restricted Area of the Library.
You have to go to detention for your cheekiness to Madam Pince, but first you meet Jae and Merula in the Kitchens. Merula will ask if you know why she is there and the correct answer is “Because you were hungry.” You ask Jae if he can get you some powdered Bicorn Horn, and he agrees. You have to talk to them both and earn 5 Stars (3 to pass) in 5 hours. Next, you head to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom to search for Prof. Rakepick’s hair for the final ingredient!
The final ingredient task requires 5 Stars to pass and to be completed in 3 hours. Penny will be waiting for you in the Artefact Room where you can brew the potion! The task requires 5 Stars to pass in 8 hours.
