The Monster Hunter Rise Guild Card Awards system keeps track of your progress in the game, unlocking new awards as you reach a certain point in the story, defeat certain monsters or complete certain tasks. Some of these awards require you to delve deep into the game’s different side activities, so they make take some time and effort to complete. This is definitely the case with the Deft-Hand Rod award, which requires you to catch more than just a few fishes to unlock.

How To Get The Deft-Hand Rod Award in Monster Hunter Rise

To get the Deft-Hand Rod award, you will have to fish every type of fish in the game. There are 19 different fish types in Monster Hunter Rise, and they can only be caught in certain fishing spots. Thankfully, fishing in the spots found in two specific maps, the Lava Caverns and the Shrine Ruins, will allow you to catch all of the fishes required to unlock this award.

How To Fish In Monster Hunter Rise

Fishing in Monster Hunter Rise is a relatively straightforward affair. All you need to do is get near a fishing spot, press the A button to start fishing, press A again to cast the line after having chosen a spot, press A again as soon as the lure gets underwater, and wait for the fish to be reeled in automatically. The only difficulty in fishing in Monster Hunter Rise is timing the A button presses right, so you will probably get the hang of it in no time.
