Not only do the Super Missiles pack a huge punch, but they’re required to blast open specific types of obstacles. Today, we’ll show you how to get and use Super Missiles in Metroid Prime Remastered.

Where to find the Super Missiles in Metroid Prime Remastered

The Super Missiles are a required upgrade to finish Metroid Prime Remastered, so unless you’re using speed running sequence-breaking techniques, you will have to get them eventually.

The Super Missiles are located in the Space Pirate observatory in Phendrana Drifts. You won’t be able to get them on your first trip there, as you’ll need the Wave Beam in order to open the purple-colored doors.

The observatory is located past the Ice Ruins West, behind some purple Wave Beam doors.

After you backtrack and obtain the Space Jump from Magmoor Caverns, return to Phendrana Drifts and defeat the adult Sheegoth, who grants you the Wave Beam upgrade. With the Wave Beam, you’ll be able to fight your way through the observatory.

The main chamber of the observatory is a large dome room. After clearing the room of Space Pirates, roll into the Morph Ball slots and bomb it to power up the room. You’ll then have to ascend the observatory while bombing more slots—once you get them all, a large generator unlocks in the center of the room.

The generator has four small tunnels that you can roll into with the Morph Ball. Bomb each slot, and the observatory’s astral map activates, revealing a center platform with the Super Missiles upgrade.

How to use the Super Missiles in Metroid Prime Remastered

The Super Missiles upgrade is the first “beam combo” upgrade you get in Metroid Prime Remastered. Beam combos are activated by charging up a beam, then firing a missile.

In the case of the Super Missiles, you need to charge up the normal Power Beam, then while still holding the button, fire a missile. The charged energy from the Power Beam turns the normal Missile into a Super Missile! Firing Super Missiles costs 5 Missiles.

For example, if you’re using the default control scheme, hold A/ZR to charge up the Power Beam. Once it’s fully charged, keep holding down A/ZR, then press R to fire a Super Missile.

Super Missiles deal massive damage to enemies, and they can also break open materials and doors that are made out of cordite.
