Shields have always been an integral part of the gear Link brings with him in all The Legend of Zelda games. Thanks to them, our hero can take on the strongest of enemies without fear, as shields let him block attacks and even parry them to unleash swift counterattacks that can make short work of any evil minion.

Wooden Shield

The Wooden Shield is the most basic of shields available in the game. Being the cheapest shield available in the game, it is also the weakest, although it is resistant to electricity, so it has its uses. The Wooden Shield can be purchased from the very beginning of the game for only 50 Rupees.

Wooden Shield Upgrades

The Wooden Shield can also be upgraded into the Banded Shield and the Braced Shield with the right materials and 50 and 100 Rupees respectively.

Iron Shield

The Iron Shield is a much more solid choice of shield compared to the Wooden Shield. It is also resistant to fire but weak to electricity, so swap it out if you’re facing an enemy that tries to zap you down. The Iron Shield can be purchased for 100 Rupees.

Iron Shield Upgrades

The Iron Shield can be upgraded into the Reinforced Shield and into the Fortified Shield with the right materials and 50 and 100 Rupees respectively.

Sacred Shield

The Sacred Shield is the third shield you can find in the game, and it is a very interesting piece of equipment, as it is better than the Wooden and Iron Shield, being resistant to fire, electricity, and curses, but comes with low durability that is automatically restored over time. This shield can be purchased for 500 Rupees.

Sacred Shield Upgrades

The Sacred Shield can be upgraded into the Divine Shield and the Goddess Shield with the right materials as well as with 100 and 150 Rupees respectively.

The Hylian Shield is the most powerful shield available in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. It has unlimited durability and is resistant to fire, electricity, and curses. To get this shield, you will have to clear the Boss Rush minigame.
