Step-by-Step Guide on How to Fish in Minecraft

To catch fish in Minecraft, players need a fishing rod and a location with a water body.

Crafting a Fishing Rod in Minecraft

To craft a fishing rod in Minecraft, players must have the following materials.

  • Sticks X 3
  • Strings X 2

Now open Crafting Menu and put the three sticks diagonally in the 3 X 3 grid. Put the two strings on the rightmost grids.

Initiate crafting, and once it is done, move the fishing rod to your inventory and assign it to your Hotbar.

How to Fish in Minecraft

Follow this simple step-by-step guide to fish in Minecraft.

Step 1.) Select your Fishing Rod.

When you are near a water body, select your fishing rod from the hotbar.

Step 2.) Cast the Fishing Line.

Depending on your platform, press the required button to cast the fishing line.

  • Minecraft PC players can cast the fishing line by pressing the right mouse button.
  • Minecraft PE edition aka Mobile players can tap on the “Fish” on-screen button.
  • Minecraft Xbox players can press LT and PlayStation players can press L2 to cast the fishing line.

Step 3.) Wait for the fish to bite.

Once you have successfully cast the fishing line, wait for a while for the fish to appear. You can see bubbles on the surface of the water when that happens. After the fish catches the bait, the bobber at the end will get pulled inside water.

Step 4.) Reel in the casted fishing line.

The bobber getting pulled inside water is your cue to reel in the fishing line. To reel in the fishing line in Minecraft, players have to press the same button as what they pressed to cast the fishing line.

  • Right mouse for PC.
  • “Fish” on-screen button for Mobile players and so on so forth.
