At the beginning of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Link is far from being the hero everybody knows and loves. Not only he doesn’t have his iconic weapons with him, but he also loses his Loftwing, and right before the important Wing Ceremony. Finding it will be only the first step in a journey that can only be described as epic.

To start this early game quest, you will need to find Groose, who can be found in the Plaza. To learn where the Plaza is, you can open up your map with the – button. This is something you will need to keep in mind for the entirety of the game, as there will be many times where it won’t be clear from the get-go where to go.

Once you find Groose, talk with him to learn that he had something to do with your Loftwing’s disappearance. After this is done, head over to the Sparring Hall, talk with Fledge to learn more about the whereabouts of your Loftwing, and then head into the Hall to get your sword, and play the tutorial if so desire to learn more about the game’s combat system.

With a sword in your possession, it’s time to find your Loftwing. Head to the waterfall in Skyloft, which has been marked on your map, locate the cave’s entrance, and use your sword to clear the wooden sticks blocking it. Head inside, fight all the enemies you encounter, encounter Zelda and finally find your Loftwing at the end of the path.
