How to Find Barrel Felynes in Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Barrel Felynes are rare enemies, so do not expect to find them easily in any of the game’s locations. They can be found fairly easily, however, in Pomore Garden in Lamure and in the Terga Volcano Base.

Finding them in Pomore Garden is a little easier than finding them in the Terga Volcano Base, as they usually spawn at the very center of the map and on the coast in the southwestern part of the map, which are both easily accessible. While there isn’t a surefire way to make them spawn, you can bring a Monstie with Monster Search, a special ability that will mark all monsters on the map. Move the cursor over the dots in the center of the map to see if a Barrel Felyne has spawned. If it hasn’t, change the time of day by heading over to the nearest Catavan station to try again.

How to Defeat Barrel Felynes

As already mentioned, Barrel Felynes have incredibly high defense, and most attacks will deal little to no damage, which is a problem in this case, as Barrel Felynes flee quickly after the battle starts. The only way of defeating them as quickly as needed is by using Barrel Bombs or use Gravios’ Spreading Beam or Black Gravios’ Heat Beam attacks. All these attacks ignore the defense stat of any monster, always dealing the maximum possible damage, which is the only way to actually damage the Barrel Felynes before they flee.

Once you defeat a Barrel Felyne, you will get 1000 experience points and Pawprint Stamps, a special type of material that can be used to craft and upgrade a variety of equipment.
