Without Pins, Rindo and his friends are completely powerless in NEO: The World Ends With You, as these items allow them to unleash a variety of different attacks called Psychs. While you will receive some Pins automatically during the course of the game, most of them need to be found by defeating Noise or purchasing them from shops.
Here’s how to farm Pins effectively so as to have a wide variety of different attacks at your disposal.
How to Farm Pins in NEO: The World Ends With You
Defeating Noise in NEO: The World Ends With You will allow you to obtain Pins at the end of a battle. There’s no guarantee, however, that you will always receive Pins by defeating Noise, due to the drop rate mechanics. Some Pins have a very low drop rate, so, to farm them, you will need to raise your drop rate. This is achieved in a couple of different ways.
How to Increase Drop Rate
For starters, the drop rate is determined by the Level Alteration mechanics. In NEO: The World Ends With You, it is possible to lower your current level at any time, and the more the level is lowered, the higher the drop rate will become. The Plentiful Pins skills, which are unlocked by completing side quests on Week 1 Day 5 and Week 3 Day 4, further increases the drop rate bonus you get from lowering your level.
To further increase the drop rate, you should also chain battles whenever you can, as every Reduction significantly increases drop rate. This is extremely important to do at Ultimate Difficulty, as some Pins dropped by enemies exclusively in this difficulty level do have extremely low base drop rates.
Lastly, there are multiple Threads that come with special abilities that increase drop rate. Some late-game gear increases drop rate by 5, so you should have no problem completing your Pin collection by equipping these items.
