As is with every Pokémon game, players are tasked with searching for Pokémon to capture and collect, using them to battle other Pokémon, be it against the AI or against other players. The difference with Pokémon GO is that it utilizes the player’s phone GPS to find and capture Pokémon!

The game has been expanding its roster since its humble release with the original 151 Pokémon all the way to modern times. Pokémon got so popular that the original roster kept expanding till we got to eight whole generations of Pokémon!

Today we will be talking about one of the Generation 3 releases, Clamperl, and how to evolve it in Pokémon GO!

Clamperl

Clamperl is a Water-type Pokémon from the Hoenn region. First introduced in Generation 3’s games of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, Clamperl can evolve into one of two forms:

  • Huntail
  • Gorebyss

Here’s how to get either one of them.

Evolving Clamperl

There is no specific method of obtaining either Huntail or Gorebyss in Pokémon GO. Both the evolutions are pretty random and each of them has a 50% chance of happening.

Each evolution requires 50 Clamperl Candies and once they are fed to Clamperl, it will evolve into either Huntail or Gorebyss. The one good thing is that Clamperl does not require players to meet any special evolution requirements.

Huntail and Gorebyss are slightly different from one another.

  • Huntail – Max CP: 2,645, Attack: 197, Defense: 179, Stamina: 146
  • Gorebyss – Max CP: 2,820, Attack: 211, Defense: 179, Stamina: 146

Of the two choices, we highly recommend trying to go for Gorebyss due to its better stat growth and overall moveset.
