How to beat every boss in Enchanted Portals

One day, two apprentice wizards, Bobby and Penny, accidentally open a portal to other worlds using a magical spell book. The spell book becomes sentient and runs off into the portal, and now the two must track down the book by any means necessary in Enchanted Portals, a 2D run’n’gun platformer heavily inspired by Cuphead.

Almost every boss in Enchanted Portals has multiple phases. Once you get a boss below a certain health threshold, they’ll advance into their second phase, which introduces new attack patterns and mechanics. This guide goes over every boss, plus all their phases, in all six worlds.

Before we start, it’s important to know the differences between your three firing modes. Fire is the all-around magic, with good fire rate and decent damage. Ice has the slowest fire rate but the highest damage. Wind has the lowest damage but fires in a spread, making it easier to hit targets with.

You can switch between magic types with the press of a button. As to which one is the best, that’s completely up to you, so we encourage you to experiment and see which one you like the most. With that said, let’s get on with the boss guide.

World 1 Boss – Meowitch

In phase 1, Meowitch hovers back and forth at the top of the screen, dropping cats that run either left or right when they hit the ground. Jump to avoid the cats, but also watch out for those tombstones in the background—if you pass by one, they’ll try to hammer you! If you get squashed, you don’t take any damage, but you are unable to fire for a few seconds.

In phase 2, Meowitch transforms and sets up her cauldron on the right side of the screen. The cauldron will shoot out bubbles and snakes that slither along the ground, so jump and dash to avoid them. Be careful when going under the green bubbles, as they pop and spill acid when you get close to them.

In phase 3, Meowitch fuses with her cauldron and becomes an absolute abomination. The edges of the arena are covered in fire, so keep your distance. She’ll walk back and forth while tossing around acidic bats, so make sure to jump and dash over her before she forces you into the fire.

World 2 Boss – Alien Commander Cow

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 1, two aliens in UFOs go back and forth across the screen trying to shoot you with lasers. You can dodge them or destroy the aliens. If you see a tile turn red, that means a trap is about to come out. Bowling balls flying out of ground tiles, and anvils drop out of ceiling tiles, so make sure to dodge accordingly.

In phase 2, the Cow busts out a turntable and starts a disco party. You are unable to shoot for the duration of this phase, so just focus on surviving. Like before, tiles on the ground flash colors—avoid these, as they will slide open to make you fall. Watch the ground carefully! After a while, the entire floor gives out, advancing the fight to the final phase.

In phase 3, you’ll don your magic broomstick and fly away as the Cow chases you. The aliens from before are back, but you can still destroy them. The Cow fires off small bullets from her gun that split into + or X patterns, so dodge accordingly. After dealing enough damage, she’ll fire lasers from a visor, so stay away from the top of the screen. Then, she’ll equip cannons on her udders, so you’ll have to avoid the bottom of the screen as well.

World 3 Boss – Haarmit

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 1, Haarmit’s crew will throw piranhas at you that swim through the sand. At the same time, the palm tree on the left side of the screen shoots coconuts at you, so make sure to time your jumps well. Occasionally, a seagull flies by the top of the screen, and when you pass under it, it’ll drop a soda can on you.

In phase 2, you’ll be dragged underwater to fight an octopus. Each one of its arms holds a different weapon, so you’ll have to dodge accordingly. The octopus sometimes shoots out an ink cloud, and you are stunned temporarily if you get caught in it. Keep an eye on the ocean floor—if you see a small crack in the ground, move out of the way because a spring trap is about to fire straight up.

In phase 3, Haarmit and its crew come back to haunt you as ghosts, so let’s put an end to them for good. A spiked blow fish falls down from the top of the screen slowly, but it’s pretty easy to avoid. The other attack however, is very dangerous, as Haarmit calls upon a swarm of blow fish that swim in at an angle. You can weave through them, but you can also destroy them with the right type of element. If you’re having trouble, stick to one element and try to create easier openings for you to get through.

World 4 Boss – The Frog Princess

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 1, frogs leap from the left side of the screen all the way to the princess for a quick smooch. Keep firing and jump over the frogs when they get to your lily pad. Owlfrogs in the air try to drop potions on you, so dash to another lily pad to avoid them. Parachuting frogs will also rain from the sky to try to intercept your jumps, so be careful.

In phase 2, after the princess kisses a certain frog, she turns into one herself. Two dragonflies fly into the middle of the screen, and you can use them as platforms for easier shooting. Be careful, as the Frog Princess can punch with her tongue, and you have to be on a lily pad to avoid it. Don’t stay on the lily pads for too long, as frogs can temporarily pull them underwater.

In phase 3, the Frog Princess dives into the pond and attacks you with kisses from below. You can tell which lily pad she’s going to appear by the bubbles that form, so keep an eye out. At the same time, the frog fairy comes in from above dropping flowers, which are pretty hard to avoid. Use your shield here liberally!

World 5 Boss #1 – The Bull

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 1, the Bull charges from the right side of the screen towards you. The cowbirds riding on top fire bullets at you in an arcing pattern, while the one running on the ground fires straight up. Dodge the bullets while dodging the random bald eagles that flies at you.

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 2, the roles reverse, as the Bull starts riding the cowbirds! The Bull fires spinning cacti out of its mini gun, and the cacti fire needles above and below. The best strategy we found for this is to stay close to the Bull, as you don’t have to worry about the needles. The only thing you need to dodge are the bullets from the running cowbird on the ground.

World 5 Boss #2 – Rocky

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 1, Rocky shoots wave attacks from his mirror. When the waves hit the ground, they’ll split into two smaller waves that go left and right, so be careful about those. The bird and satyr on top of the pillars fire regular projectiles that don’t do anything fancy. In fact, if you stand on the edge of either side of the screen, they won’t fire at you at all, and you’ll only have to worry about the wave attacks.

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 2, Rocky dons some gladiator armor and a row of phalanx appears. The satyr and the bird continue to fire upon you, but now you’ll have to also dodge a roaming phalanx that goes across the screen. On top of that, keep an eye on the spikes—when they turn red, they’re about to shoot up, so use your double jump to stay in the air long enough to avoid the spikes. Remember to use your dash too!

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 3, you no longer have to worry about the satyr and the bird, but you do have to watch out for the crossing dinosaurs. You can destroy the purple pterodactyls, but you cannot destroy the green dinosaurs. Try to stay out of the center of the screen because Rocky will try to bash you with his club. If you do need to move over to the other side, be sure to use your dash, as your normal running speed is too slow to avoid the club.

World 6 Boss #1 – The Conductor

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

Be very careful in world 6. If you die at any point, even during the final boss, you have to start the entire world over again!

The Conductor plays the piano to attack you. Try to watch which keys he presses, as that’ll tell you which hammers are going to come down. When the hammers hit down, they send out ground shockwaves, so jump over those. While this is happening, black music notes rain from the sky and come in from the sides, so either dodge or destroy them.

World 6 Boss #2 – Cerberus

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

Cerberus switches between heads to do different attacks. One attack is a close-range fire breath, so make sure to keep your distance. Another attack is a tornado that travels in an arc, so don’t get tripped up by its weird trajectory. The last attack is a slow-moving bubble that turns into a lightning strike when it gets close to you, so dodge quickly.

World 6 Boss #3 – The Spell Book

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

You’ve finally caught up to the pesky Spell Book, but it’s not going to go down without a fight! In phase 1, the Spell Book summons all the previous bosses to attack you, including the Frog Princess’ tongue punch, the Alien Commander Cow’s udder cannons, and more. Do your best to survive the onslaught!

The Spell Book itself doesn’t attack, but it does have an elemental shield. You’ll need to attack it with the matching element—for example, if it’s red, use fire attacks against it. Also, keep an eye out for the family cat that rides by on a cloud, as he drops some life-saving hearts for you.

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 2, the Spell Book turns into a giant tree! Parachuting squirrels and explosive nuts fall from the top, so move carefully to avoid them. When they hit the ground, they have massive explosions, but the hitboxes are actually much smaller than they look. Stay calm, and you should get to the next phase easily.

Screenshot by Touch Tap Play

In phase 3, everything looks like an anime! The Spell Book summons three small fairies to attack you. The fire fairy stays in the top left corner, shooting fireballs that slightly track you. The wind fairy stays in the bottom left corner and shoots cyclones that travel in a straight line. The ice fairy rides an ice reindeer that charges from right to left. What we did here was stay near the right side and focus on dodging the reindeer, then avoid the cyclones and fireballs as they catch up to you.

And that’s it! If you managed to make it this far, you have officially conquered Enchanted Portals. Congratulations on a job well done, the game is not a walk in the park!
