In 2014, Thomas Janson released a small little geometric runner game called Wave Wave. It was released around the time of the Flappy Bird craze, and it featured the same kind of core gameplay: a simple runner that demands fast reflexes to avoid challenging obstacles.
The game quickly became a hit thanks to its addictive and challenging gameplay, and now Janson is coming out with a new spiritual successor called Wave Redux. Five years later, Wave Wave finally returns!
At first glance, Wave Redux looks like a straight sequel to Wave Wave, featuring simple colors and geometric shapes. From the words of Janson himself, Wave Redux is a “super cool geometric chill-game”.
The game’s standard mode is called “Chill Mode”. In this aptly named mode, Chill Mode slows down the game’s pace and obstacles are much easier to avoid. You can relax and enjoy yourself at your own pace.
Wave Redux also features a “Hype Mode,” and this is the mode for the daredevils. This mode quickens the game to blistering speeds reminiscent of Wave Wave, and the obstacles become much harder to dodge. The mode also features a different control scheme that might take some time to get used to.
Wave Redux is planned for a July 8, 2020 release on the App Store.
