Whether you like match-3 games or just love gardening, Gardenscapes is new approach to the classic match-3 formula. Let’s get started with our Gardenscapes cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide!

1. Look carefully for the gnomes

On the levels where you need to uncover the gnome statues, you can look closely to kind of see where they might be hiding. If grass is covering a spot where you think a gnome might be hiding, make sure to reduce the grass to its thinnest layer by matching fruit and flowers.

At the layer where there are holes, if you see a bright white color peeking through the holes, there’s a gnome there!

2. Look for match-4s!

We know this is a match-3 game, but you’re going to have to get into the habit of matching more than that! Difficulty spikes in match-3 games usually happen late into the game, but it happens in Gardenscapes as soon as level 8.

Don’t rush through the levels; take your time. Don’t try to do just threes – examine the board and see if you can setup up a four chain. You’ll quickly run out of moves if you’re not always thinking one step ahead.

3. Save your gold for the shovel power up

Out of all the power ups, if you’re going to buy one, you should get lots of Shovels. Shovels let you dig up one tile anywhere on the board, and this can mean the difference between beating the level and losing.

The other power ups just start you out with an explosive or rainbow power up already on the board, which may give you a head start but can be easily wasted. Instead, we recommend just sticking with the shovels.

4. Hang onto the rainbow blasts

When your rainbow blast meter charges all the way and a piece forms on the board, resist! We know it’s tempting to set it off immediately but usually it’s a good idea to hold onto until you really need it.

Say, for example, you’re trying to get a gnome out of a little nook in the corner of the board and you can’t just get the berries you need to get the single one out of the way. This is where the rainbow blast comes in and opens the way for you!

5. Create boosters

This goes hand in hand with tip #2. Your main goal in the game is to create matches of as many tiles as possible, matches that result in booster blocks. These special blocks are the ones that help you win those difficult levels, as they can reach very difficult to reach places.

Even better, if you match two boosters together, you create a super-effect that increases their power. So, if you still have moves left and chances to bring two boosters together, it might be wiser to wait a bit until you do so in order to gain all those benefits!

6. Rainbow blast is your friend

And it also goes hand in hand with all the tips above. The thing is that you need this Rainbow Blast and you can activate it by detonating more power-ups in a game. The more, the better and the sooner the better!

7. Restart difficult levels without losing lives

This is an important tip for those insanely difficult levels that need everything to fall in the right spot if you want to win.

Look at the game board as soon as you start the level and if you don’t like the tiles that you’re getting, or the placement of the boosters in the level, simply restart that level. If you do so before making a single move, you won’t lose a life!

In order to do so, simply tap the Gear icon in the game and exit the level, then launch it again. This is a bit time consuming and you’ll need a few tries before everything falls in place, but it’s really useful and totally worth it!

8. Add as many friends as possible!

This is pretty much common sense, but I have to say it again: the more friends you have in Gardenscapes, the better! Because friends send you lives and you can never say that you have too many lives in this game, especially once you reach the more challenging stages!

9. Don’t spend coins on continues!

You only get a limited amount of moves and it costs a fortune to do so. In most cases, even if you spend the money for a continue, you won’t win the level. So it’s better to save those coins for other things instead.

If you are 100% sure that with a move or three you will surely beat the level – and if we’re talking about a level that gave you a ton of headaches, then you definitely should spend the coins to continue. But if you do, make sure that you make them count and you beat that level because coins are not cheap!

10. Create matches at the bottom

If all else fails and you don’t have great options above for creating boosters or getting closer to completing your current missions, the best move that you can make is create a match at the bottom.

Doing so will end up moving a lot of tiles on the board and you might get lucky and score a few free matches and get even some boosters for free. So it’s always a good idea to create matches at the bottom.
