Fortnite Creative Guide: How to Create Awesome Maps in Fortnite

Fortnite is mostly known for its Battle Royale mode, but did you know there’s a growing community of fan-made islands, each with their own unique modes? Fortnite’s Creative Mode lets users create and design their own maps, letting you play new modes with up to 16 players! Today, we’ll show you how to use the Creative Mode to make awesome maps in our Fortnite Creative Mode guide!

What is Creative Mode?

Ever wanted to design your own mini-game or experience within the world of Fortnite? You can do exactly that with the new Creative Mode, which enables players to design their own maps. If your Epic Games account qualifies for the creator program, you can even share your map online and earn some money from it too!

If you’re curious about what’s possible with Creative Mode, we recommend stopping by the Featured Islands on the Fortnite website. Featured Islands are voted for and chosen by the community, and they have high-quality, unique experiences built into them. Who knows, maybe your dream map will be featured on this list one day!

How to Get Started with Creative Mode

To start building on your own personal island, simply choose the Creative mode option from the main menu. This will drop you into the Creative Hub, where you can check out popular islands that other players are on. There should be a console nearby that brings up a list of your own personal islands, so go ahead and create one to get started on your Creative Mode journey!

You’ll drop into your rift from the sky, just like normal. As soon as you hit the ground, you can begin to build by using the console on your island. From there, the only limit is your imagination, so go wild and let your island dreams come true!

The builder user interface might be a little overwhelming for first-time users, so if you’re ever in need of help, we strongly recommend checking out the Creative Mode documentation on the Fortnite website. There’s a lot of great info for you to take advantage of, so feel free to check it out if you require some pointers on how to build your island. There’s even a glossary full of terms to help you figure stuff out if you’re unfamiliar with the Fortnite lingo.

How to Submit your Islands to Epic Games

You’ve built your first island, and you’re ready to show it to the world! Now, we’re just as excited as you are, but you’ll have to go through some paperwork first. Before you can submit your island, you’ll need to apply for Epic Games’ “Support-a-Creator” program.

The Support-a-Creator program is Epic Games’ internal system that helps their most popular in-game content creators get paid for their work. You’ll have to hit certain requirements before your Epic Games’ account can be considered eligible for the Support-a-Creator program.

If you’re approved, your island will appear in the public hub, where it can be accessed by players all over the world! You can also give out your island’s exclusive code to invite players directly.

To sign up for the program and check out all eligibility requirements, head on over to the official Epic Games’ Support-a-Creator website.

That’s all you need to know to start building your own island! Remember: use the Fortnite Creative Documentation, as it probably contains answers to any question you may have while building. Let us know if you have any other questions in the comments below!
