Does Honkai: Nexus Anima have a release date yet?

No, HoYoverse has yet to announce the release date for Honkai: Nexus Anima, their next big game in the series and a move into the highly competitive creature-collector genre.

It’s definitely a new direction for the Honkai series, but one that makes a lot of sense due to the turn-based combat. It looks like HoYoverse will maintain the gacha element by having a mix of trainers you can earn or buy, along with your large menagerie creatures. I, for one, am very curious to see how they all mesh together for gameplay.

So, why no release date yet?

HoYoverse is currently in the testing stage for the game and has run a couple of network tests, the most recent of which was the Evolution Network Test that began on July 9th for Android, iOS, and PC. Access was via a random lottery that you had to sign up for, so if you did know about it, have no fear; it was difficult to get access in the first place.

As odd as this will sound, HoYoverse feels like they are pretty immune to the dreaded GTA 6 effect, where developers and publishers need to be very careful about the release of the upcoming game of the decade. That said, I would be surprised if we see this game even a confirmed release date before then.

The release date of Zenless Zone Zero was confirmed at the end of May, 20204, and released in early July that same year, so HoYoverse doesn’t seem to worry too much about having a long run-up between the announcement and launch.

We could see an end-of-year release, but the studio hasn’t done that since Zombiegal, so I feel as though an early 2027 release is currently likely.

All we can really do is sit back and wait for an official announcement.
