Understand how the game works

Cats & Magic: Dream Kingdom has some pretty simple mechanics, yet it requires quite a bit of planning and getting used to in order to not waste anything and get the most out of the low resources you have at the beginning.

There are a couple of things I will list below that will help you better understand the game:

– The blue Play button is the story mode of the game, and your main way of obtaining new cats and progressing in the game.

– Each cat that you add to your party in the story mode will contribute with their current Energy pool (be it full or not), as each tile that you explore requires Energy.

– Some tiles require more Energy than others, just like some levels require more Energy overall (for example 3 cats instead of 2) than others.

– You can build various buildings in the village to help you recover Energy much quicker and to help you upgrade the cats.

– All of the buildings in the village can be upgraded, so don’t forget to do that when you have the resources.

And now that all of these are out of the way, it’s time to dive into some more serious business!

Play the stages and discover new cats

The stages of the game will pretty much be the ones where you search for new cats, by using your already acquired ones and Energy. I would suggest that once you finish with the tutorial you try to advance here as much as you can.

You won’t be able to do too much though because of Energy, but still you will be able to progress a couple of levels once you finished the tutorial.

Now one thing I really find interesting is that you will obtain Energy over time, and that will mean that you need to constantly go back and forth between feeding the cats and playing the stages. Still, the number one priority should be to try advancing as much as you can as soon as you have Energy.

From playing the stages (story mode) you will discover 1 cat fragment at a time, and once you gathered enough fragments you’ll get the actual cat.

Collect more cats to have plenty Energy

One important reason why you are collecting tons of cats (apart from the obvious one that they are adorable) is that they will each have a pool of Energy. You can use various cats to play the stages, as their own Energy will come into play and allow you to explore further.

Since the main reason for collecting more cats is so that you can play more levels in the story mode (and learn their story too, of course) you will want to play it every time you get the chance because that is the way to go.

Explore the spots with special markings on them and conserve Energy

The most important thing that I suggest you do is to save up all the Energy you can while playing the story mode. Each tile that you search will require Energy, but some of them (let’s say the plain ones) require more than the ones which have a boot or other items on them (that is what I call special markings), as those require just part Energy and part cat.

My suggestion would be to try and get to those special tiles within the stages, because they are the ones which will help you reach the stage goal quicker. You can try to explore the other, plain, tiles if you want too, but they will only give you Gold and such – not count towards the stage completion.

Also, if you haven’t found the cat during that stage and you ran out of Energy, then that’s bad news – all that you can do is to try again when you have more Energy!

Upgrade the cats

As you will collect more cats you will be able to use them for story mode. One thing that you need to keep in mind though is that the higher level a cat is, the more Energy it will have and will restore per hour.

You can upgrade the cats to the maximum level that your account is, so whenever you level up make sure that you upgrade your cats’ levels as well because that basically means more Energy and Energy / hour.

In order to upgrade a cat you will need to feed it, and you can obtain that from the Cat Canteen. The more you advance a cat in level, the more Food it will cost to upgrade it over and over again.

Sometimes you can get double rewards from main story levels

There is a chance that sometimes you will get double the rewards from the main story levels. That will happen if you get a pop up showing you to “get extra rewards” by watching an advertisement.

I really recommend that you watch an ad and double the rewards because that will help you get stronger and collect more resources – what’s better, even if you haven’t collected a cat fragment that level, if you watch an ad you will get one!

Build all the available buildings

All the time that you have a new building unlocked, you should go ahead and build it because some of the cats might need them for their missions. I suggest that you always build any building that you have available, and then select the button to finish it for free.

Basically any building, the moment that you place it down can be completely finished without spending Gems, so make sure you take advantage of that feature!

Upgrade the buildings

One other important thing to keep you busy in this game is upgrading your buildings. They will require Gold and other materials (depending on the building) and you should make sure that you make all of the available upgrades whenever you get the chance.

Upgrading a building will cost Gold and Wood, and you will get plenty of these resources over time, so don’t rush and eventually you will be able to build your dream cat village!

Another thing worth mentioning is that the Catland Hall is one of the most important structures you have – so prioritize that when it comes to upgrades, because that, in turn, will allow for higher upgrades of the secondary buildings (such as houses, training grounds, canteen and so on).

If a cat offers you free Gems, take them!

Whenever you see a cat running around with a dialogue box above their head that has a video icon, then it means that the cat will offer you 5 free Gems in return for watching an advertisement. Whenever you see this option, you should take it right away because as a f2p player you want to get your hands on all the Gems that you can without having to pay.

Complete your quests

In the bottom left corer of the screen you will have your tasks on a notepad, so whenever you are unsure of what to do next, you should go ahead and check this out because there it will show you your Story quests as well as the Daily quests.

– Story quests: These tasks are pretty simple – from building a certain building to upgrading it and / or the cats. They will reward you with various loot, and once you have completed all tasks within a batch you’ll get some extra rewards and a new one will pop up.

– Daily quests: The daily quests are super important as they can only be completed once and day and they will give you everything that you might need from the game during that particular day. Make sure that you complete them ASAP because they will reset within 24h!

Complete cat “mini-quests”

These “mini-quests” are basically the tasks that you get from the cats that appear in the dialogue bubble above their heads. They can be stuff such as finding a building or another cat, or even rewards consisting of items (food, wood, etc).

I suggest that you complete these whenever you see them, as they will come in handy especially if you are in need of an extra little bit of EXP.
