Castlevania: Symphony of the Night tells the tale of Alucard, the son of Dracula. Last seen in Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Alucard wakes from a three-hundred-year slumber in order to find out the truth behind Castlevania’s recent appearance. Discovering that one of the Belmonts may have something to do with it, Alucard storms the castle to get to the bottom of it.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night spearheaded the new shift in the Castlevania series, as Alucard had free roam over the castle rather than being forced from stage to stage. Players traveled through the various locales of the castle, fought creepy monsters, found new weapons and gear, and tackled the hellish bosses. Various relics that granted Alucard new powers could be recovered, granting him access new parts of the castle.

The game has been fit for mobile devices, with a virtual directional pad and buttons to control Alucard. For a more authentic experience, the game also supports controller support.

The mobile version seems to also be based on the Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles version released back on the Playstation Portable, which means that there are achievements and new voice acting. There is also a new continue feature which lets players retry right away without getting booted back to the title screen upon a game over.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is available now on the App Store and Google Play Store for 2.99 USD.
