Of the many changes that the game has implemented, including changing the game setting from modern times all the way back to ancient Hisui (later Sinnoh), one of the major ones that players noticed was the suspicious lack of TM’s and HM’s that were extremely prominent in all of the previous games in the franchise.

This situation left players asking what happened to TM’s? Read on to find out!

TM’s in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The TM system that was prevalent in all of the previous games from Gen 1 is now completely removed in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. No longer can players search the overworld or buy TM’s from PokéMarts and Department stores like they used to.

The removal of such an integral system in the Pokémon games left players wondering with regards to move training. How does one teach their Pokémon moves apart from the general move pool that they normally learn?

How to learn TM moves

Instead of having Technical Machines or Move Tutors like the old games, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has them all under one NPC in the Training Grounds at Jubilife Village.

This NPC can teach Pokémon moves that they normally learn and ones that they wouldn’t. Some moves can be taught to Pokémon that are compatible with the moves, provided they reach certain conditions to do so. Some Pokémon need to be of a certain level, while others need to be of a certain evolution. The parameters of such tend to vary from Pokémon to Pokémon.

When these conditions are met, the player simply needs to talk to the NPC and give them a paltry amount of money to enable them to teach your Pokémon the desired move! They can also adjust your Pokémon’s movesets to ensure that the player goes into battle always fully prepared for any situation!
