Can Darkrai be Shiny in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

With the information that we have currently, there is no reason to believe that shiny hunting Darkrai won’t be possible. What we mean to say is, Darkrai’s shiny form will definitely be available to players during the Darkrai mystery gift event running from April 1^st to April 30^th.

We say this with assurance even before the event comes out and before we actually have proof of players encountering Shiny Darkrai because of past events. A lot of Mythicals have made their appearance in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, many of them through events such as the Darkrai event coming up, like Shaymin and Arceus.

In both of the above examples, we know that players have definitely encountered shiny versions of these Mythical Pokemon, with Arceus being the newest addition to that. Darkrai happens to be a Mythical Pokemon as well, and there is no reason that The Pokemon Company would refrain from adding Darkrai’s shiny version in the game.

How to Get Shiny Darkrai in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

First, players would need to complete the Cresselia event that is currently going on. After finishing the quest and obtaining the Lunar Feather from Cresselia in Fullmoon Island, players will have to wait till April 1^st.

On April 1^st, the Member Key item will be available to obtain as a Mystery Gift. With the Member Key, head into the Harbor Inn in Canalave City and speak to the Innkeeper. This will cause you to fall asleep and wake up on Newmoon Island. Enter the forest and find Darkrai.

Save before encountering Darkrai, as you will have to reset your game if it doesn’t end up as Shiny, and keep encountering and resetting until you do come across Shiny Darkrai; you know, the normal process of shiny hunting on a static encounter.
